As a guy who loves bench seats and column shifters, because modern center consoles and center stacks have become too big and rob way too much space, I was thrilled to get into an i3 and see a nice small console just between the seats and a column shifters. So much room for activities! I wish that would catch on in other cars. The i3 doesn’t meet enough of my needs for me to buy one, but I sure like them.

I was reading your other posts about this so it got me curious to do some research on the i3. You mentioned that you were going to do the Hold State and Gas tank reprogramming, which I just read up on and it makes sense. Do you know if you can fit a larger than 2.4 gallon gas tank in the vehicle anywhere? 2.4 doesn’t seem like a lot to me. The real-world mileage of the i3 is just too low for me as sometimes I might drive 120 miles in a day.

I have no idea about fitting a larger gas tank, but I do know they use the same tank worldwide, just limiting the US model to 1.9 gal.
Carry a gas can?

So much room for activities! I kinda cant get over how big and open it is inside— I can fit comfortably in the back seat behind me, which is something I couldn’t do in the 5. The pillarless aperture still wows me.

The Rex kicks on, in the US, at 6% battery. One of the first things I did was reprogram the Rex to kick on any time under 75% battery, and programmed one of the dash buttons for it. So if I’m on a longer trip, I hit the button (no menu searching) and kick the generator on, and hold the charge state. Totally eliminates range worry.
